Nordegg Heritage Centre
Once Canada's largest producer of coal briquettes, this national historic site chronicles the history of the area's mining community circa the early 1900s. Pictures and artifacts depicting the community are on display at the centre's museum. Free. There's also a gift shop and cafe on-site. May 11 to Sept 29, daily 9 am - 5 pm, free. Tours of the Brazeau Collieries leave from the centre daily. Short tour starts at 10 am and runs approx. 1 1/2 (hours) $4 adults, children under 12 free.
